People Against Xenophobia

Professor Krishna is the founding director of a new organization, People Against Xenophobia (PAX). PAX’s aim is to prevent hate crimes from happening. The number of hate crimes and acts of intimidation have grown recently. But many such incidents have been prevented or stopped. While news about the occurrence of crimes seems to spread very fast, news about the prevention of these crimes does not spread as widely. This is a problem, since the more people are exposed to the occurrence of an event, the more normal the event seems, and the more likely it is to occur. As such, PAX spreads stories about people who prevented crimes – so that acting against crimes becomes the social norm.

If you are interested in helping to build awareness and preventing hate crimes by reading and sharing these stories, subscribe to PAX’s newsletter here. Also, you can share a story you think PAX might want to feature.  Feel free to visit PAX’s website and Facebook page as well.
